The best
homeschooling information
from the friendliest folks in the Rocky Mountain
region!
Conferences and Events
Homeschoolers love to gather together. Sometimes we
just meander across town, others, we pack the car with
toys and lunches and drive for days. Do you know of a
great event in the Rocky Mountain region that families
would like? Let Cindy know.

Field Trips
Fun and usually free places to take the kids! From the
ordinary to the laughably odd. C'mon, be adventurous,
try something new!
Colorado Field Trips
More excursions, from the usual to the odd and amusing.
(I can't help it. Finding weird stuff is built into my
genes or something.)
National
Knowledge Master Open
Wondering what your kid knows? Curious how they stack
up against other kids? Well, here's your chance. KMO's
an academic competition for 5th-12th graders, covering
14 different subjects, done in the privacy of your
home, with a team of just one kid, or five, or fifteen
or sixty. Windows and Mac compatible. Try free practice
questions on their website!
Odyssey of the Mind
For your creative budding artist or writer, or your
logical mathematician or engineer, here's an
international problem-solving competition to suit all
types. Design and build your own moving, mechanical
contraptions, write an original play, compose music,
build props and act out your masterpiece -- in front of
regional and (maybe even) state and international
judges. The more imaginative you are, the better off
you'll do. I coached and coordinated both public school
and homeschool OM teams for 6 years. Trust me -- it's a
blast!

Defining a Vision for Future
Generations

range from $69-$89. depending on how early you sign
up. A huge vendor hall, lots of workshops including
Nuts and Bolts for new homeschoolers, a Mom's Track,
a Dad's Track (excellent addition!), but the best
part is the Friday Evening Concert with
the Von Trapps. Meet Sofia, Melanie,
Amanda, and Justin. They are the great-grandchildren
of Captain von Trapp, father of the famous singing
family whose story captivated the world in the
musical The Sound of Music. The children have
continued the tradition of the family’s exceptional
musical gift and love of singing, sharing songs, and
heart-warming family stories. Heck, I practically
grew up on this movie. I'd pay full admission just
to attend this. Click here to visit The von Trapp
Children website.
